Total sales of wholesalers (14 industries) were 37,287.4 billion yen, for FY2020. Down 4.0% from the previous year. The operating income was 228.5 billion yen, also down 41.2%. Both figures were the largest declines since FY2002, within the timeframe from when comparisons are possible. Amidst this situation, there are many companies thinking they should ways to make the most of new businesses. 12.5% of the companies said they will "practice new efforts" and 42.1% said they will "expand in the future”.
