A survey targeted 237 specialty stores asking whether they are tackling the labor environment issues and human rights issues. About 30%, 71 companies, had some measures toward these issues. Of the 309 companies (comparable to FY2019), the total sales reached 25.456 trillion yen in FY2020, up 0.8 percent from the previous year. Nitori Holdings has topped the list for operating income, being the top for 2 consecutive years. The furniture sector ranked first in sales growth among other industries.
