Service Industry Survey -- news published on Nikkei MJ, October 22

The sales of 35 service industries in FY2020 decreased by 15.4% from FY2019 to 15.208 trillion yen (in 848 comparable companies). Sales in 28 industries declined due to the spread of COVID-19, turning negative for the first time in six fiscal years. The number of employees decreased in 24 industries and is expected to be 2.5% lower than that of FY2019 in total (in 616 comparable companies). The travel industry and hotel businesses faced a double-digit decline in the number of employees.
