The top legal and tax topics in Japan 2021, selected by leading lawyers, were the revision of the Corporate Governance Code (Corporate Governance Guidelines) in June (domestic category) and the new rules for international taxation (overseas category). The most active attorneys of 2021, voted by corporate officers of legal from 210 major companies, were Yushi Hegawa (taxation category) and Hiroshi Kimeda (crisis management category).
Voted by 127 leading lawyers, Mitsubishi Corporation topped the list as a company "strong in the legal field". Followed by Nippon Steel Corporation, by only one vote short, and Toyota Motor Corporation in the 3rd place. While voted by the corporate legal officers of 189 major companies in Japan, Nishimura & Asahi became No.1 as the "best law firms to rely on". The top list was filled with other "big five" major firms of Tokyo.
