The July survey of the “Nikkei Consumption DI” — a quarterly index of business sentiment among consumption-related companies — showed that the Pricing DI (metric subtracting the share of responses of "declined" from "increased" on prices of goods and services) emerged to plus 41, the highest level since the first survey in 1995. The current business outlook was minus 27, up 17 points from the previous April survey, improving for the first time in two quarters.
