The 40th Service Industry Survey -- published on Nikkei/Nikkei MJ

The sales of 36 service industries in FY2021 (fiscal years ended between August 2021 to July 2022) showed a 13.3% increase from the previous year to 12.6264 trillion yen (among 610 comparable companies). Recovering from the drop in FY2020, the first time to have negative growth in six fiscal years, 29 industries showed an increase. 38.9% of the companies will raise wages after August 2022. Especially in industries such as "dry cleaning/laundry" and "barber/hair salon" have a high share of companies raising wages.
