Survey of University Presidents (2) — results published on Nikkei

In Japan, more and more companies are adopting the "job-description model" (which clarifies the job's specification and expected skills) in hiring fresh graduates. The survey asked 157 notable universities in Japan for their responses to this trend, where 73 universities (46.5%) have "career education in earlier years" as the top, followed by "enriching practical education" in 69 universities (43.9%). On the other hand, some expressed concerns over the direction of universities becoming a place for vocational training.
