The Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers announced its 11th annual ratings on Japanese companies' efforts to maintain and improve the quality of products and services. The survey was sponsored by Nikkei, Inc. and conducted/analyzed by Nikkei Research Inc. A total of 152 Japanese companies were evaluated on an 11-point scale, and overall, four, including Ricoh and Suntory Holdings, were categorized as the top five-stars company. Those companies were valued for their engagement between top management and front-line employees, as well as their quality training programs involving suppliers.
