The approval rating of the Kishida Cabinet was 39%, up 4 points from 35% in the December 2022 survey. It is the first time in eight months since May 2022 that the Cabinet's approval rating has increased. The disapproval rating dropped 3 points to 54%. 64% of the respondents showed "support" for the government's plan to downgrade the category of COVID-19 to Class 5 under the act on special measures for pandemic influenza and new infectious diseases, far above the 30% who "oppose" the plan.
