In the annual survey conducted every fall, 49% of respondents said Japan's role in the Japan-U.S. alliance "should be expanded," surpassing the "should not be expanded" (46%) for the first time. Respondents who were worried that Japan is about to be attacked by other countries reached 83%. In addition, 39% of respondents said nuclear power would be one of the main power sources in the future 10 years from now, up 11 points from the 2021 survey.
