The July business conditions index of the “Nikkei Consumption DI,” which summarizes the business sentiment of consumer-related companies, was plus 9, an increase by 11 points from the previous survey in April, reaching its highest level since the survey began in 1995. The DI improved in 9 industries out of 14, with “entertainment/amusement” hitting a record high and “supermarkets” and “travel/transportation” also showing significant improvement.
